Helpless Child next, this is an absolute dirge. It sounds like the musical equivalent of monkeys wiping shit on a blank art canvas,

A third of the way through "Apostate", this really is the diametric opposite of the music I like.

No melodies or chord patterns. No classic song structures with joyous lyrics about sticking it to the man or partying to fuck. Just catatonic grooves that wander down alleys, leaving me bewildered and confused.

I need to show someone on the doll exactly where this music touched me.

 I wish I could tell you gets better (actually, "She Loves Us" is my favourite Swans song, so maybe it does), but it's almost over, honeybuns.

"She Loves Us" kicking in now. Holy shit, a not-too-bad riff for the intro, this sounds like it could be best yet.

Around the 7 min mark is where it kicks into something else entirely monumental.

I'm liking this exchange in the YouTube comments...
Garruksson: Is there some meaning to "your name is fuck"
Jeff Wrubel: Yes. Your name is fuck.
Garruksson: Fair enough.
Dave Hall: Gira explained it in an interview. He was at a baptism and the priest, at the exact moment he was naming the baby, stubbed his toe on the altar and cursed loudly, hence: "Your name is...FUCK!!!"
Caverman: Priceless comedy.

It does pick up, we're into "sounding normal" territory now.

This sounds a bit like Judas Priest.

The later albums are very much blues-based, so, yeah, more normalish, but endurance tests nonetheless.

Last song now, "The Glowing Man." This starts out like tension-building Spaghetti Western music, which is all well and good, but then descends into some Metal-style riffing that sounds like the needle is stuck.

I'll report further as this 30 minute(!) song progresses.

You ain't done. Go to the top of the page, where I Dropboxed the songs you've missed or not listened to the right versions. This ain't no sideshow, Mr. Humphries.

Fucking hell, for this I'm gonna give you the longest Peter Criss drum solo I can find for you KISS Kompendium.

I will listen to the extra two songs at the end of this Spinal-Tap style Jazz Odyssey.
