The Challenge Thread

Post by Dr. Medulla » 13 Feb 2017, 7:17pm

I will assemble a playlist of ten songs by Swans that you will listen go—in their entirety—and you will report back here your assessment of each. Hilarity, abuse, and, maybe just maybe, world peace will result. Do you have the whatever Geordies consider balls for this?

This. This is a good idea. Perhaps the only good idea there has ever been.

Send me the fucker and I will give my honest opinion of how bad it is.
I just polished off some Low Country shrimp & grits and a mess of collards. That's a hell of a strain on the arm.

“Big Strong Boss” from Filth
“Cop” from Cop
“Time is Money (Bastard)” from Greed/Holy Money
“Trust Me” from Children of God
“You Know Everything” from Various Failures
“I am the Sun” from The Great Annihilator
“Helpless Child” from Soundtracks for the Blind
“Apostate” from The Seer
“She Loves Us” from To Be Kind
“The Glowing Man” from The Glowing Man

A sample from the band's catalog, in chronological order. If you can't locate these on youtube or Spotify or whatever, let me know. And, goddammit, no skipping ahead because you get bored or scared. I'll know, you Thatcherite bastard!

I will assemble this on YouTube and listen under lab conditions on Thursday night. I'm gonna send the Mounties round to flog you if it's rubbish.

I told the missuz about this challenge and she said I was being mean. Then I explained that Heston is the KISS guy, and now she wants him to suffer. This is how real justice works.

What makes me laugh is the Doc is so outraged by Heston's love of Kiss he has even complained to his missus.

He had to explain those nine months or so when he stayed up late into the night, looking for new pictures of KISS.

Less interesting version is that she was watching the Gene Syphilis tv show from a few years back, being properly disgusted by him, and I mentioned that one of our own grew up over a toxic dump beside a leaky nuclear reactor and loves KISS.

Also, Heston, can you set up a web cam to record yourself listening to "Cop"?
