I'll never stop loving it for sure. It sure has an energy a lot of modern rock 'n' roll is severely lacking.
Yep one of those songs that gives you goosebumps every time you hear it even after 40 years!!!
Put Bollocks on in the car the other day and I have to agree. Just a damn perfect song.
I guess we just need more contemporary bands to be influenced by The Faces.
Umm in a way but that's far from the full story with the Pistols. There's no way John Joseph Lydon was ever influenced by The Faces.

I've said it before and I will say it again, the Pistols were a Mod band albeit heavily influenced by glam.

Sure, Glenn was into mod stuff, but Steve didn't have the R&B thing going on - he was more a Faces/Ron Wood and Dolls/Thunders guy. So Mod by evolution. Not sure of Paul's influences.
It's not like they were a Jam type mod band, who knew all the in's & out's of Motown and Stax.

Are those versions of Roadrunner, Substitute, What Gonna Do, and Stepping Stone the versions from 'Swindle'? (pretty sure No Fun is a Chris Thomas re-recording). 1975??? Hell, I thought they were from late '76...

No all those versions on that list are merely rehearsal songs and none exist on tape. "No Fun" was recorded by Dave Goodman at the "Anarchy in the UK" sessions Sunday 17th October '76.

Whoa....I thought I was a big Pistols fan and have everything but I never knew of Psychotic Reaction, Slow Death, Shake Appeal, I'm not like Everybody Else, Holy Cow, and Understanding. I'd be amazed by this. Maybe they were just piss takes like What'cha Gonna Do About it.
Did John even sing on any of these, this sounds more like a Steve, Glen and Paul thing or maybe that other guy Wally something.

The only one on that list that surprised me was Lee Dorsey's Holy Cow. John was auditioned in August '75 at McLaren's shop (Sex) 430 Kings Road. In September '75 also at this time Steve New auditioned for the band and stayed for a couple of rehearsals. So yes John would've rehearsed all those listed from September on-wards.

Also rehearsed briefly were Shake (Sam Cooke) though I expect it was the Small Faces version they were playing. There's another song called "Watch Your Step" rehearsed artist unknown.

Self penned songs from this time are listed as :
Younger Generation AKA Mindless Generation
Raising Rabbits (Early version of Lonely Boy)
Go Now (Written and sung by Glen) allegedly played at Central School of Art & Design, Holborn, London Friday 7th November '75. Glen sang this at their first 3 or 4 gigs and John hated it.
Kill Me Today
Old Fashioned
Concrete Youth
I'm Happy

Here are John's scribbled titles from that period also includes "You're Driving Me Wild" "Gamble & Procter" "I've Got A Feeling" "Scarface" (Written by Wally and his dad) and some unused lyrics "Two Little Sisters" on the bottom left.

Here are Wally and his dad's lyrics for the song "Scarface" which the band rehearsed as The Swankers in '74. The song was also one of three played in early '75 by Wally/Steve/Paul/Glen at Salter's Cafe, 205 King's Road, London. The owner of Salter's Cafe was Tom Salter who was the father-in-law of Gabby Salter who was Joe Strummer's long term partner and the mother of his two children.

The other two songs played were "What'cha Gonna Do About It" and "Roadrunner".
