I'm sure trans people have a complicated relationship with it at best, but Lola was a song which helped raise my consciousness on the gender spectrum when I was an immature, hateful little dolt. I find the song to be coming from a good place on the whole in 2017, but I can see why some might find it distasteful. I think it shows that problematic stuff with underformed politics can still do good in the world. Of course, a genius tune and performance helps.
It's a fabulous song written by someone with a fantastic social eye who has a good heart.

Hell yes, Powerman. In the more upfront, less murky demo version.

I didn't remember if this thread existed, if it didn't I was gonna make a new one called The Kinks Reunion You're Thinking About Right Now Thread.

I do think it will happen now. Ray is 74 and it's kind of now or never. I really hope they do it.

Which Kinks song should Elvis have covered? I know the only likely candidates would be thirty seconds of You Really Got Me or All Day and All Night with too many instruments in a live medley in 1975, but what would he have done best?

I can imagine "Days" done in his 70s cabaret style.

Brilliant answer, you're exactly right.
