Re: Megaupload shut down
The cloud storage services I've been seeing would range from $200-$250 yearly (approx. 128-160 pounds). It's possible a more DIY setup would cut costs, but I'm less familiar with how to set up something like that which would meet our needs (Matey's Clash backup currently sits at 187gb, which is all the shows in FLAC, some video, and some mp3).
Another option would be migrating to torrent services. There are a lot of advantages to that, but I need to look a lot more into what that would entail in terms of getting everything up and running.
In the meantime, the founders of the Pirate Bay have a storage locker operate called BayFiles: http://bayfiles.com/
It's supposedly legit, I wonder if it might meet our needs in the short- to medium-term.

I've just tried uploading a 46MB file and it was going to take about 40 minutes. Is that reasonable for uploading? How long would the equivalent download take?

Re: Megaupload shut down
I said 40 minutes was about normal (actually better than average) for a 540MB file. 46MB in 40 minutes is really slow.Marky Dread wrote:If you scroll back a few posts matey says it's very simillar to Megaupload speeds.dave202 wrote:I've just tried uploading a 46MB file and it was going to take about 40 minutes. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

For my past use of the boot collection, I'll pony up some dough for future generations who don't realize how badly they've been betrayed by the band.

Just tested with "Dreadzone - live at Sunrise" album, mp3, app. 100 mb and it took app. 7 minutes at an average speed of 250 mb/s wireless. Looks a lot faster than 2share or zShared... Anybody want the album and test the download speed as well...? here goes: http://bayfiles.com/file/1v59/ZBw9Kj/Dr ... e-2006.rarFlex wrote:In the meantime, the founders of the Pirate Bay have a storage locker operate called BayFiles: http://bayfiles.com/

Must have read that as 460MB not 46MB. My bad.matedog wrote:I said 40 minutes was about normal (actually better than average) for a 540MB file. 46MB in 40 minutes is really slow.Marky Dread wrote:If you scroll back a few posts matey says it's very simillar to Megaupload speeds.dave202 wrote:I've just tried uploading a 46MB file and it was going to take about 40 minutes.
