Carbon Silicon Early Tracks

Post by jnadams99 »

Prior to the tracks they recorded for ATOM, Mick Jones and Tony James put together some tracks on their laptop using lots of music samples. They put them on 3 discs and each disc had 6 tracks on them. It's unclear how these discs got distributed and due to the high content of music samples, they probably won't ever get an official release, so apparently some lucky individuals out there have possession of some super rare releases. 3 discs x 6 tracks per disc equals 18 tracks. As far as I know, 12 of those tracks were leaked on the internet about a decade ago. I found them on an old hard drive recently and since the megalist links are a little sketchy, I've uploaded them using WeTransfer. You can download them below. And I doubt it'll ever happen, but wouldn't it be really cool if those missing 6 tracks showed up online one day. :-)

The 3 disc track listings are below (and I wrote MISSING next to the tracks I don't have)
Sample This Peace
1. Why Do Men Fight
2. MP Free
3. Up All Night (Fly CSI)
4. Here Comes The Rock And Roll - MISSING
5. Lets Make Life - MISSING
6. Yes I Can - MISSING

Dope Factory Boogie
1. Be Good 2 Yourself version 1 - MISSING
2. The Networks Going Down version 1 - MISSING
3. A National Anthem
4. Super Paradise Beach
5. This Is Your Beauty
6. Really The Blues version 1 - MISSING

The Grand Delusion
1. The Network's Going Down version 2
2. I Loved You!
3. Weapons Of Angel Delight
4. Be Good 2 Yourself version 2
5. President Warfield
6. Really The Blues version 2

Looking down the biography, it looks like the versions that eventually got released were re-worked versions of the tracks on those first 3 CDs, which I assume never saw the light of day.

Thanks for sharing though!

Yes, but a lot of those songs that were just shared were never reworked, so it's a terrific share. The Last Post features remixes by Bill Price of versions featured on ATOM and Western Front.

Hey, thanks for putting this together. I suspect I had/have a fair number of these tracks somewhere but it's been quite a while since I listened to them.

Remember that feeling we all (well, most of us) had when BRAND NEW mick jones songs started circulating on the internet? Good times.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Here it is again. Also, I traded out my copy of MPFree with one that has a higher bitrate (thanks Laxman).
