Who were the biggest solo artists of the 80s? Michael Jackson probably is at the top of that list, but I'd put Phil Collins in 2nd place. Madonna's on the short list. Agreed. I think I top-3 could be: 1) Michael Jackson 2) Madonna 3) Phil Collins Prince? I think top-5 ... I'd maybe slot him in 4th....

One of the ultimate 80s movies for me. Watching it always takes me back to being a kid back then.

Re: MLB 2024
I'm thinking that if the Red Sox only play road games the rest of the year, maybe things get interesting. It's time for revbob to execute his dream of blowing up Fenway. Honestly there may have been a time, and the time may well come again but the passionate hatred I once had for the Sox is long go...

Re: A defense of Eric Clapton.
I have very little use for Eric Clapton, but I do dig his Derek and the Dominoes LP. For a guy who has spent his career being maybe the biggest blues copiest (I think that's a word) around, this might be the only time he ever sounded like he understood what it felt like to have the blues. in this c...

I've always dug this track from the same time period as Come Dancing. It's moody in all the right ways.

Re: Totally Radical! The All Encompassing Thread of 80s Awesomeness
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOIjcUwiuso Sort of a classic early 80s story here, The Kinks have their biggest US hit mostly on the heels of a quality (Julien Temple directed) music video and MTV (of course, also a great song, but they have a lot of those). Also, sort of ironic that this very Eng...

https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/18/entertainment/dickey-betts-death/index.html Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers. They did have some wicked jams. Dang. Allman Brothers were alright by me. My dad met Dickey Betts a couple of times and he seemed like a pretty nice guy according to him, so that's someth...

He'll be pointing his .44 at the women in heaven It would have been fitting if he's passed away in the backseat of a Greyhound bus, rollin' down Highway 41...
