Tina Turner RIP
Sad news. River Deep and Nutbush City Limits are great enough to nullify the 80s and 90s cheese.

Re: DC5 vs. The Beatles

I kind of like the muddled production. I swore there was fuzz effect on the bass when I was listening in the car and loved it. Listening on headphones later, I don't think that's the case, but I think the general scuzziness of the instrumental adds a fun edge. Have you checked the KISS version yet?...

They play a cool version of Brixton too
Very nice version.

Why couldn't he have sang it like that with The Clash instead of those bellowed live versions.

George Michael was pretty big also. Indeed he was. When I think of artists like Madonna, George Michael, maybe even Prince - I think of something like Michael's track "I Want Your Sex" and how it entered the cultural hive mind in a way that got all sorts of people debating it and what it meant. I'm...

All kinds of vote shifting going on. It's been tied, Beatles have been up by 2, DC5 have been up by 2. The work of the same Swans/KISS poll prankster?
I noticed too. Not my work. Maybe The new posts have attracted new votes.

Re: You're still a thing? Bands that you thought were finished but are playing the local casino this week

It's a little crazy to remember what a big deal Madonna was in the mid-80's to maybe mid-90's: Like a Virgin at the MTV Video Awards, the Pepsi thing with Like a Prayer, the Sean Penn wedding, Dick Tracy and Warren Beatty, the Sex book, Vogue. I recall her having a concert special on HBO during her...
