Re: BBC Clash Project
Marky, That is a dream I suspect by now. I do remember it was what, over 25 years, before that perfect mixing desk of the Akron 82 show dropped? That was a while ago though. The thought of a nice copy of this show disintegrating on an old, poorly stored cassette haunts me. Perhaps the taping policie...

Re: BBC Clash Project
"Saw" them twice in the US. September 79 in Seattle, August 82 in Philadelphia. Both times so far away I could barely make out what was happening. The PA was cranked up so loud in Seattle my pant legs were flapping. I was basically deaf afterwards for several hours. I missed them by a few weeks when...

The Baker
Hey Gang, I know this is a bit tardy, but... My Clash reading up until this point had revealed very few details about The Baker. I thought he was called that as he was a bit portly. Also, he supposedly disappeared into the wilds of America, burying his tracks as he went, disavowing the Clash entirel...

Re: What books am I missing?
Thx to all. I'm looking for a day by day account (and recordings) of the Rope sessions. Hope springs eternal. Looks like Route 19 it is... I'll read it while my collection of barely listenable audience tapes plays... Its been 40 years now, have we heard everything that was recorded from the early ye...

What books am I missing?
I haven't bought a book about our guys in a long time. These are the ones I have read, and would welcome suggestions for additions to my
collection. Thanks, BasingSt78- 24 Dec 2017, 5:57pm

Yeah, I'd have smacked Mick first too. Go for the low hanging fruit, hope to escape... ;) Paul was/is a dashing sort, no wonder Patti Smith was constantly calling the pay phone at Rehearsals. I don't imagine Paul was eating poster paste when she was about... See, I have read a whole gaggle of Clash ...

Re: Press conf Mogador
An observation from across the pond: I don't suppose its an accident Mick is sitting as far away as possible from Joe? I have read almost every Clash book to come down the pike, and surely that relationship was always contentious. I seem to remember a black and white clip from Rehearsals where Joe t...

Re: The Megalist Would Like to Sincerely Thank. . .
This pisses me off more than Trump, and that is saying something. I have long wanted to debate anyone from the music industry who claims audience tapes, FM/mixing desk, anything not officially released harms an artist/band. Case in point: The Celibate Rifles. I'm in the US, didn't know who they were...

Re: Marky Dread Remasters
Marky, This is the set list and sound mix that I find so pleasurable, carried over into the truncated Winter 79 USA tour. I've read so many Clash books they run together in my mind, but I recall Simmo saying the sound on the show recorded by the Stones portable studio was "duff." So out of the Lyceu...

Re: Marky Dread Remasters
Keeping the dream alive... great work mate! Do this geezer a favor and dig up a crisp Jan 31,1979 Vancouver BC Commodore Ballroom gig. I was there in 83, and you could roll in a cart with a reel to reel deck with no problem. Audio and video recording was permitted, the only verboten item was your ow...

Just a correction on S!. Bootsy Collins and JG split the tracks, while PS was filming a minor part in a film nobody gave a shit about then or now...

Re: How about some new Clash "product" for 2017
It took 30+ years for the St. Paul soundboard to drop, so you never know... BasingSt Which St. Paul show has a board mix? I was at all three ('79, '82 and '84) and have the boots for all of them and they're all audience recordings. You know something I don't, mate? My mistake MHF. Sorry if I ...

Re: How about some new Clash "product" for 2017
Just to disagree with a small point of a post that I think is mostly on point, I don't think that 2017 Mick wants to rap at all. Yes, I stand humiliated. I was a bit harsh on old Mick. I do remember reading Mick had cassettes of NYC rap radio broadcasts sent express mail to him. He was totally infa...

Re: How about some new Clash "product" for 2017
Black Swan Gig? i think not. You are 100% correct WM. The footage I saw was shot from facing the right side of the stage, and Levene was not in the frame. I'm pretty sure the whole stage was visible. So it had to be post Black Swan, but MAN it was an early gig. REAL early. If that 30 seconds or so ...
