Re: TCRS PRESENTS - DIGGIN' THE NEW - THE LOST JOE STRUMMER / RICHARD NORRIS TAPES
I think War Cry with vocals and the alt versions of Road to RNR and Diggin the New from this would have been better inclusions on Vibes Compass than the alt takes of Coma Girl and Moses that aren't really that different. Or London is Burning which was already on 001.

Re: Joe Strummer 002 coming soon
Wasn't there a lost tape from the Richard Norris/Strummer sessions? I think it had versions of Diggin the New and War Cry. Hopefully, stuff like this would make 003 Yes it was posted here a while back. The tracks merged into each other. I bet Norro has the originals. https://www.mixcloud.com/joe-sw...

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?
The logic, which I really truly appreciated hearing about from the band way back when, from decades ago that it's great that all these live recordings and boots are out there so the label doesn't need to just dump any old crap out there doesn't really hold water anymore. Anyone with access to real ...

Unless vinyl side D has the world's greatest secret bonus track.

I saw a commercial for this on youtube and assumed "The People's Hall" was a new Terry era-live show and rolled my eyes... but man that would have actually been better!

Re: Friday Poll Thread #3 - Worst Clash Song
The Crooked Beat and Look Here are really the only two Clash songs I always skip. And since Look Here is a cover and doesn’t have dreadful vocals, I voted for that crooked, crooked.. BEAT!

Re: The Clash observations thread.
Looking back at those post-LC songwriting credits, Paul is on a helluva lot of songs. Who knows what he contributed, it has never really been explained in interviews. But knowing that Rebel Waltz is a Strummer/Simonon song makes me curious about its inception. Interesting. I might have missed it bu...

Re: Rat Patrol 2LP acetate
I like the end of Car Jamming better on Combat Rock. That little breakdown after "positively absolutely" is my favorite part of the song and I miss it on Rat Patrol. I find myself preferring the few re-recorded vocals on Combat Rock as well as Glyn Johns' shorter edits of most of the songs -- I'd sa...

Re: Rat Patrol 2LP acetate
Holy shit this is so good. I always preferred Combat Rock to Rat Patrol, now I'm not sure. The band was firing on all cylinders at this time and pretty much became their own genre. It makes me wish this wasn't the end but maybe there wasn't even anywhere for them to go from here. Time for the Combat...

Re: Lost 1983 Demoes with Mick Jones?
Reckon Strummer would have done one if he'd lived? I reckon so, with Dylan's Chronicles as a model. Ugh. Just another "what could have been." So depressing. It's crazy to think we could realistically have had an extra 9 Mescaleros albums at this point, if Joe kept putting one out every other year.
